4 Must-Visit Carlisle Brewpubs

Whether you need to treat yourself after a long day of work or you’re celebrating the long-awaited weekend, nothing tastes better than a craft beer. Fortunately, you can find several brewpubs and breweries in the Carlisle, Pennsylvania, area where you can enjoy a delicious craft brew. Here are four of Carlisle’s must-visit brewpubs.

1. Greystone Brew House

Greystone Brew House is a full-service bar and restaurant specializing in seasonally driven menu items. Greystone’s signature beers include the A-Roundabout IPA, named after the iconic roundabouts that feature in many of Pennsylvania’s small towns. You’ll love the A-Roundabout’s creamy texture and tropical notes. Fans of Irish red ale will want to try the Dillston, while American pale ale fans will enjoy the Range End and its clean, refreshing flavor.

No matter which beer you order, it will go great with a plate of fried dill pickles, bacon-wrapped diver scallops, or Greystone’s signature meatballs. If you’re in the mood for something sweet, try the Beerimisu, an espresso stout-soaked version of the classic Italian tiramisu.

2. Desperate Times Brewery

At the award-winning Desperate Times Brewery, you can enjoy delicious craft brews and creative dishes in a charming European-style beer garden. Popular beers include the Desperate Times IPA, the Honest Lawbreaker Oatmeal Stout, and the Kinky Thompson Pale Ale, which is named after a legendary prohibition enforcement agent. Desperate Times also offers seasonal brews such as the Fall Spice.

If wine is more your thing, try a glass of cabernet sauvignon or raspberry riesling. Be sure to order up some hobo bread, a basket of hard pretzels served with German mustard. Another favorite dish is simply called The Dish. It’s baked brie with cherry preserves, served with crostini.

3. Burd’s Nest Brewing Company

Burd’s Nest Brewing Company serves up unique brews made with fresh local ingredients in a welcoming atmosphere. If you like your beer light, citrusy, and sweet, try the Nene pale ale. For something more robust, go for the dark, chocolatey, and roasted Terrible Two’s Doppelbock. Another favorite is the crisp Road Runner. Burd’s Nest also serves up an extensive selection of wine and whiskey, as well as snacks such as cheese curds, fries, and chicken fingers.

4. Mellow Mink Brewery

Mellow Mink Brewery is on a mission to promote the traditions of Old World and New World brewing by producing creative and delicious craft beers, using only the finest ingredients. You can enjoy the delicious draft and bottled offerings in Mellow Mink’s casually elegant taproom or pick up a pack of Crowler Cans to enjoy at home.

Signature drafts include the Cloud Corral IPA, a bright and pillowy New England IPA featuring Amarillo, Simcoe, and Mosaic hops. The Copious Darkness is an oatmeal stout showcasing dark cocoa, roasted coffee, and fig flavors. Another favorite is the Trail Companion, a German-style helles lager with spicy and herbal notes. Mellow Mink Brewery also serves up a delicious selection of craft cocktails. Taproom guests are welcome to bring their own snacks or have food delivered from their favorite restaurants.

These are just four of Carlisle’s must-visit breweries. No matter which one you visit, you’re sure to enjoy a tasty brew and great company.
