Preferred

Under the hood, the Preferred trim level comes standard with the same setup that’s in all the other trims:  A 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that generates 138 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque, a six-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive. It also has the option of an all-wheel-drive system.

When it comes to entertainment and connectivity, the Preferred edition features 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot capability, a six-speaker audio system, Bluetooth connectivity, and the Buick Infotainment System that comes with an 8-inch touch screen.

The Preferred trim is equipped with several safety features. Some of these features include tire pressure monitoring, traction control, a blind-spot warning system, a post-collision safety system, and an emergency braking assist. You also get a rear vision camera and StabiliTrak. If you want added safety, opt for the Safety Package that’s available with this trim level.

Sport Touring

The main difference with this trim level is the remote start. Like the other models, the Sport Touring edition features the same engine, a six-speed automatic transmission, and a front-wheel-drive system. It’s also the same when it comes to entertainment and connectivity offerings. You do have the option of upgrading to a seven-speaker audio system, HD radio, and navigation system, though.

On its exterior, this trim features a metal-looking rear bumper insert, a chrome-tip exhaust, two-tone paint, and a chrome grille. When it comes to safety, all Buick Encores come with the same suite of features, making any trim level choice comparable in this regard.

Essence

Under the hood of the Essence is the same powertrain: a 1.4-liter engine, six-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive. Inside the cabin, you’re greeted with a wide variety of modern technology. Entertainment and connectivity features include an AM/FM stereo, a USB connection, and a seven-speaker audio system, all of which are available on all of the previous trims. The Essence also comes with the same set of safety features that are standard with the other trim levels.

Notable differences with this trim include dual-zone automatic climate control, leather seats, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel. An auto-dimming rearview mirror and a six-way power-adjustable front passenger seat also come standard.

If you opt for the available Experience Buick package, you get additional amenities like a navigation system and a moonroof. Unlike the other trims, you can also upgrade your vehicle to include certain features like lane departure warning and an in-cabin air purifier.
