The 2023 GMC Sierra offers four engine options with a horsepower range of 277 to 420 and 348 to 460 pound-feet of torque. You can choose from a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder diesel engine, a 5.3-liter V-8, or a 6.2-liter V-8. The towing capacity for these engines starts at 8,000 pounds and goes up to 13,200 pounds.

On the 2023 Toyota Tundra, you have two engines available. The first five trims feature a 3.5-liter V-6 with 389 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. The TRD Pro adds a hybrid system to the same engine for 437 horsepower and 585 pound-feet of torque. Although the starting towing capacity with these engine options is slightly higher at 8,300 pounds, it tops out at 12,000 pounds, significantly less than the Sierra 1500.

Interior Dimensions

You get more passenger room in the front and the rear of the Sierra 1500. Front legroom is 44.5 inches, with headroom between 43.0 and 43.1 inches across the various trims. Rear legroom is 35.2 to 43.4, with headroom between 39.9 and 40.1, depending on the configuration. The Tundra offers 41.2 inches of front legroom with 39.3 to 41 inches of headroom. Rear passengers also lose out with only 33.3 to 41.6 inches of legroom and 36.9 to 38.9 inches of headroom.
